Description
The second of my pre-movie generation students.
Like Eri, Baojia the Siberian lynx is a student of Oogway at the time that Koto is killed and Shifu is brought to the Jade Palace. He and Eri are the only other students of the old tortoise at this time.
As his name means "protects the family", Baojia is the most dedicated student of his time and has been a student of Oogway since he was a kitten. He is devoted to really only four things: the art of kung fu, his master, protecting the Valley, and adhering to the laws of the Jade Palace.
When Shifu arrives at the Palace, Baojia doesn't have much sympathy. His first encounter with the cub comes when Shifu can't sleep his first night at the Palace and starts to go and find his master after a nightmare wakes him up. He is confronted through the rice paper wall by the irritated lynx who tersely reminds him that Oogway is not his parent and demands he remain in his room until the morning gong - as is the rule.
With Shifu's innocent but bad first impressions the following mornings, Baojia comes to think of the cub as more trouble than he's worth. Oogway knows, however, that Shifu and Baojia have more in common than they know and that they will have to discover that themselves.
