Iron Lightning Pt. 8

Just as Lightning is being forcibly escorted outside...

"The Kane News Syndicate can cover the boy's fee!"

All eyes turn towards a strange German Shepherd adorned in a decorated collared and tag. "In fact, we'll sponsor 'im."

"Mr. Tanner?" Dallas lowers an eyebrow. "You're saying you're willing to risk this pup's life to sell a few newspapers?"

If it'll get me back into a warm office, I am... "Mr. Baxter, think about the public's response if you turn this kid away because of twelve measly dollars. You'd be out of a job."

Lightning himself then steps forward in defense to Dallas. "Sir, I'm Lightning McQueen. I'm a racing star in my country. I was offered a sponsorship from--"

"Just let him race," Hilmar interrupts. "He won't last a single day."

"I'll last longer than you or anyone else here, Mister," Lightning challenges.

Cackles come from the other racers, but everyone seems to urge Dallas on to let Lightning race. When the old St. Bernard finally gives in, the young McQueen is welcomed warmly into the group. He also formally meets his new sponsor - Mr. Toby Tanner - who seems awkwardly accepted by his peers, but pleasant enough to be trusted.

At least we hope.



Sorry if this one seems rushed. But honestly, I'm getting used to a new version of Photoshop, the week has been busy, and this isn't exactly a most important part of the story. Long story short, Lightning gets a new sponsor in the race from a newspaper reporter with a possible agenda. With his sponsorship, Lightning is allowed back in the race.

I need to work on German Shepherds a bit more.
