76 - These Small Hours by DolphinMoana 76 - These Small Hours by DolphinMoana
100 Theme Challenge #76 - "The Little Things"

Let it go...
Let it roll right off your shoulders
Don't you know...
The hardest part is over
Let it in...
Let your clarity define you
In the end...
We will only just remember how it feels

'Cause our lives are made
In these small hours
These little wonders
These twists and turns of fate
Time falls away
But these small hours
These small hours still remain

All of my regret
Will wash away somehow
But I cannot forget
The way I feel right now...

In these small hours...

So right after Koto defies his master to fight Lie Hong (See "Sanguine Sunrise") and it ends in disaster and due to Koto's selfish motives, the heartbroken captain barely survives and returns home to face whatever punishment Master Oogway has in store for him. As he fears, he is banished from the Jade Palace...but not quite the way he had expected. Oogway sums it up for him with these words:

"I want you to take your things and go home, Chen Koto...and in a month, I want you to come back. You owe this to your son, Koto. I don't want to see you anywhere near the training hall until the month is up. You'll make up for what training you missed then."

So, for the following month of June, Oogway bars Koto from any and all training or captaining duties. As always, the old master proves in the right. Koto over-goes a much-needed reawakening of his soul and heart through the month, in which he and Shifu go everywhere and do everything together. The young captain's physical and emotional wounds begin to heal, and his eyes are opened to the fact that - though he lost and failed so many of his men and loved ones - there was still the most precious gift Yin had ever given him, right there in his arms.

OK - this was drawn a couple of sketchbooks ago, so there are MANY things I see that can be improved. :bleh: But there it is, an essential part of Koto & Shifu's story. :aww:

They sure are. I remember once seeing a picture of someone holding a tiny red panda in just one hand! It was so tiny.

Having Shifu smaller and seemingly more vulnerable as a cub does make sense. That would explain the 'I'm so tough!' attitide in his later years.

Not a problem. Your work seems pretty clear to me. :aww:

I guess you could relate my young Shifu to a chihuahua. Tiny, but rather feisty and bold to make up for it.

Aw, that is gorgeous! Shifu's such a tiny, little guy! :excited: And I love Koto's happy expression.

That is very well done. :aww: The characters are well presented and (as usual) your colouring astounds me. Seriously! You're computer colouring is amazing! :wow:

Oh, and I love that song. It's one of my absolute favourites by Rob Thomas.

Shifu would have to be tiny. Red pandas are tiny as it is. Plus, Shifu seems like he would've been the "Runt of the Litter".

Thanks so much! :cuddle: My Photoshopping isn't quite as clear as I'd like, though. ^^;

I almost cried when I played the song and looked at the picture at the same time...very cute.

I don't know why I'm about to cry, but I think it's got something to do with the fact that poor Shifu doesn't know that Koto would die soon, and they're having a good time...
