100 theme challenge #62 - "Light & Dark"

My entry for :iconmastershifufanclub:'s current contest.

Heeeey, haven't done one'a these in a while. :o :D But I've had it in my mind since I first saw Kung Fu Panda 2. I went back and watched the first one again, and it's really cool to see how Shifu grows between movies. :aww: You certainly get an Oogway vibe from him now - not to mention I love the way he carries himself in the sequel. Most of the time through the first KFP, he was rather hunched over and always had his arms behind his back. In this one, he holds his head up and has a rather regal air about him, even in the way he holds his hands. Even if we didn't get to see much of him, it was really neat to see the small ways in which he is becoming Oogway. :aww: And you, know not to mention that he......

SOMEHOW TREKKED ACROSS THE COUNTRY BY HIMSELF JUST TO HELP HIS STUDENTS. O____O That's a mighty journey for a little old man!!

Anyhoo, I thought this also fit well into my 100 theme contest. :D And I hope I didn't make old Shifu's despondency too obvious with the rain. I used the film's color theory for this - blue for cold and negativity, and green for peace and wisdom.

This image is superbly put together.

- The colors used in the background are both soft, but easily discernible. The use of the blue to denote his sorrow and cold nature are very well contrasted by the green, expressing his wisdom, and inner peace found inbetween the two movies.

- Shifu's posture also shows well on this image. In the first movie he was burdened with the raising and loss of Tai Lung and his stance and the way he held himself responsible was clear in his stance, which was captured well. However in the second movie, Shifu can be seen in a far brighter, and more intelligent light. His posture and even his voice show that he has come to terms with what transpired between him and Tai Lung and is willing to move on and grant himself peace.

- The use of the light shining brushes along side the rain brushes is also very well used here. They both work well to show the transformation between Shifu's appearance and his mood in the two movies. Giving off a sad, but simulations uplifting feeling the image as a whole.

-Over all a gorgeous piece of art, and a true exhibit to Grand Master Shifu. Trainer of the Furious Five, the Dragon Warrior and Guardian of the Jade Palace.

Cute... I like how the one in the back is more shaded and the one in the front is in the light.:)
Did you know that Shifu was originaly going to have a nose like Po, but Dustin Hoffman did not like it, so they changed thier design of Shifu's nose... :D So Dreamworks' original Shifu looked kinda weird.

Yeah, I have The Art of Kung Fu Panda. Shifu's character went through a LOT of development, actually. He used to be Po's adoptive dad, actually. Which is why he was made a red panda in the first place.
